Everything in its place

We are so excited, on the eve of our mini-March for Science, to receive a new book by Oliver Sacks, the celebrated neurologist who informed and delighted readers with his absorbing volumes of engrossing neurological tales…

LEARN MORE: Oliver Sacks Everything in Its Place

We are inspired by his warmth and erudition, his clear love and interest in other people, and his extraordinary poetry and skill in telling genuine stories and describing challenges people face in ways that both illuminate the underlying neurophysiology of their diagnosed disorders, and make it abundantly clear that we are connected and share aspects of their experience. Oliver Sacks makes you see other people.

The Oliver Sacks Foundation offered copies of this new book of essays to those submitting photos of plants on social media. NW Noggin posted a picture of ferns (sword ferns), a favorite of Dr. Sacks, taken in the South Park Blocks in Portland, Oregon near Portland State University. Our image was one of four chosen to receive a book…

It was so much fun to tell undergraduates in our Perception course at PSU, who are reading Hallucinations by Oliver Sacks, about receiving this book, and we are thrilled to have it arrive today in the mail!

Many, many thanks! There’s even a chapter on what social media does to our brains! Happily one thing it’s done is bring Noggin a compelling book of essays by Oliver Sacks… 🙂
