For the annual Society for Neuroscience conference, where eight undergraduate participants from WSU Vancouver and PSU presented a poster on outreach activities from summer 2014!
A pdf of the NW Noggin poster is available here…

Our students did a terrific job discussing our collaborative art and science teaching efforts with some of the 30,000 + conference attendees.
They are among the 35 summer NW Noggin participants (both graduates and undergraduates) who developed and delivered instruction on the brain and behavior last summer to 220 5th – 9th grade students at five area public schools!
It was an impressive, eye-opening experience – we attended some fascinating talks and symposia on drugs, sex differentiation, auditory face recognition in the blind, affective touch, memory, stress, and attention.
We enjoyed a visit with Kristen Donheffner, Oregon Congressman Earl Blumenauer‘s legislative assistant for neuroscience. The Portland schools we served last summer (Madison, Franklin, Harrison Park, Jason Lee and Sabin) are all in the Congressman’s district.
We also had the chance to explore DC (at least a bit!)…
An important learning and mentoring experience for all involved…
Cheers!
