MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility is administered by the Oregon Youth Authority in Woodburn, Oregon. The agency’s stated mission is “to protect the public and reduce crime by holding youth accountable and providing opportunities for reformation in safe environments.”
At MacLaren, there are a number of vocational opportunities offered, including the training of shelter dogs (Project POOCH). The Hope Partnership, a collaboration between the Oregon Youth Authority and Janus Youth Services, also provides a variety of classes and community networking opportunities for youth to help build their self-confidence and skill set to transform their lives.

Thank you for inviting us to spend an afternoon! We enjoyed a spirited discussion with youth leaders around bias, brain development, drugs, educational opportunities, and the implications of neuroscience research for policy and law.
We’ll return to MacLaren in September – dates to be scheduled soon…
