WHERE: Creative Science School @ Clark, 1231 SE 92nd Ave, Portland, OR 97216; Head to the main school office to sign in for NW Noggin

WHEN: Tuesday, October 16, 2018, 10:15am – 2:30pm

CLASS ONE: 10:25 – 11:12
CLASS TWO: 11:15 – 12:02
CLASS THREE: 12:05 – 12:20 & 1:05 – 1:37 (lunch in the middle)
CLASS FOUR: 1:40 – 2:27

Volunteers will answer questions, and discuss brain development and the neuroscience of creativity with middle school students at this Portland Public School. The teachers will have nitrile gloves ready for brain handling, along with colorful pipe cleaners (~ 20/student) for building brain cells!

We’re told that students would appreciate a basic introduction to the brain, including some details about brain cells (neurons)  –  and networks of neurons and what they can do. We can discuss various brain lobes and their associated functions, too…

The questions that the teachers are organizing the day around are:
How can I create and strengthen positive connections in my brain that will help me be successful in school and life? How can knowledge of how the brain works help us to make a healthier community at Creative Science School?
