DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Noggin visit to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility Portland State University “Metamorphosis” course \nWe did it!\n \nAnd we want to do this again!\n \n \nWHERE: Coffee Creek Correctional Facility\, 24499 SW Grahams Ferry Road\, Wilsonville\, OR 97070 \nWHEN: Tuesday\, January 28\, 2020\, 8:30 – 11:00am \n“unable to touch\nsad reflections of my past\nbut things are made new…” \n― Sandi Maddox Hoot \nPlease meet us in the main building\, straight back through parking lot\, at 8:30. Please don’t wear blue. No t- shirts with logos (unless NW Noggin!). Comfortable closed toed shoes. No wire bras. Bring only an ID (and the approved supplies). There is a locker you can use for any other personal items.\n \nNW Noggin volunteers will bring extra brains\, skulls and art to the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility\, a multi-custody prison accommodating all women inmates in Oregon. We’ll join Portland State University Studies professor Deb Arthur\, who is teaching a year long course called “Metamorphosis” at CCCF. \n \n“Women can earn four credits in science\, four credits in arts and letters and three credits in writing — similar to a PSU freshman inquiry course — to set a foundation for a college degree.” \n \nLEARN MORE: Portland State launches pathway toward a college degree for women serving time at Coffee Creek prison \n \nNW Noggin at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility\, September 2019 \nDeb has taught a similar course at the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility\, where NW Noggin has met with young incarcerated youth on multiple occasions. We share her enthusiasm for going places\, listening\, and connecting people through visits\, stories\, learning\, research\, education\, outreach and art. \nFrom Mackenzie S.
