See how to do the Crow Dance at the link! \nStories\, Singing\, Dancing & Brains!\n \nWHERE: Mservey Meadows\, Oregon (near Agness)\nWHEN: Thursday & Friday\, July 12th & 13th\n\nLEARN MORE: Synapses & Stories \nWe’ll drive towards Agness early on Thursday\, aiming to arrive by the afternoon. Storytelling\, dances\, brains and art on Thursday afternoon through Friday evening! \n \nEsther Stutzman organizes this annual gathering\, and tells traditional Coos and Kalapuya stories. She recently won a 2017 Governor’s Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement! \nFrom the Siletz News (10/17)… \n“Esther Stutzman is a native Oregonian and traditional American Indian storyteller of Kalapuya/Coos heritage. She learned the stories from her grandmoth- ers and she has been telling stories of the ancient ways for more than 50 years. She is a descendant of the Headman Camafeema (Halo) of the Komemma/ Kalapuya and is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. \n\n\n\nStutzman works with Title VII Indian Education and Arts in Education programs throughout Oregon as a cultural resource specialist with children as well as with teacher in-service programs. \nShe is the primary storyteller for Mother Earth’s Children\, an American Indian theatre group that has performed for school assemblies and a variety of events and conferences for the past 42 years.
